When To Tour Yellowstone National Park

Depending on what you weather you prefer, most seasons are perfect for traveling to Yellowstone National Park. Fall, winter and summer are the seasons most would recommend for exploring the park, with mid-June being the most suggested month. Take advantage of what nature has to offer as you fish, camp, enjoy wildlife, and hike. Relish in the company of blooming wildflowers at this time and enjoy the comfortable, warm weather and cool nights. However, this is the most popular time for tourists to venture to Yellowstone, so you may be accompanied by crowds of tourists as well as wildlife. Be warned of the abundance of trailers who haul to the park every summer. If you still want to brave the crowds, travel before mid-June or after Labor Day to avoid being bombarded by too many people.

Spring and winter are probably least ideal seasons to visit the park, as visitors may be unwillingly greeted with cold and snow. It also isn’t rare to have many rainy days during this time, resulting in trails smeared with mud and snow. If you are seeking a more economical vacation, Fall would be a great time for you to travel Yellowstone. Because it is an off season, most lodging and restaurant rates are lower. The beautiful Aspen trees also turn a brilliant gold shade.

Also be mindful of closed roads that are inevitable for reconstruction around the park. Mammoth Hot Springs is the only road open year-round. In addition to the closed roads, snowplowing may prohibit traveling by vehicles also, and this usually begins in March and end around April.

Whatever season you choose to visit Yellowstone promises to grant you an unparalleled view of wildlife, geysers, and mountainous landscapes.

Now that you know the best time to experience this magnificent national park, it’s time to start planning and preparing for your Yellowstone tour, so that you make the most out of your visit!

Why Taking A Bus Tour Is A Great Way To Travel

There are many ways to travel. Some people like to see the world by hopping a flight to some far off destination and then hopping on a cab to check out the local hotspots. Others prefer to board a cruise when they take a trip to Hawaii or some tropical locale. However, one of the best methods of taking a tour remains taking a bus tour. Taking a tour by bus allows you to take your tour and see it from a different point of view. Check out some of the other reasons to take a bus tour below:

• Someone else is handling the driving. This can be especially useful in areas that you’re no familiar with, such as overseas. It’s also helpful for conditions that you would rather avoid, such as traffic and weather.

• Tour guides are a great source of knowledge for the area you’re visiting. They’ll give you a running commentary of the area you’re visiting.

• A planned itinerary to maximize for both your time on the tour and also to make sure you get to see all of the key sights that you want to visit.

• Taking a bus tour can be a lot cheaper than traveling on your own. Your tour will likely include accommodations, food, a driver and of course, the gas, which in itself can be quite expensive. Think about how much money you’d be saving on the price of renting a car and booking a hotel room alone.

• Busses are very comfortable. They have upgraded seats, onboard restrooms, controlled temperatures and sometimes televisions in the headrests.

• Booking a tour now can save you a lot of money by locking your costs in place before prices rise up.

• Traveling by bus can allow you to enjoy other activities while riding the bus. While you’re riding along, you can pull out your favorite gadget and kill time. You can listen to your iPod, play your PSP or any other time-killing fun activity to enjoy while taking your tour of Yellowstone or anywhere else you’re traveling to. Just try to be considerate and not play your Britney Spears CD too loud since you’re sharing close quarters with other passengers.

• Take a nap. If you’re traveling on a bus, you can take a nap and catch up on some shuteye to save some energy before the next stop on your tour.

• Some seats will have power outlets so that you can charge your electronics while you ride. If you’re lucky, you might even come across a bus that has wi-fi so you can take advantage of the wireless Internet feature available, too.

• If you’re the kind of person who enjoys talking to others tour-taking people, you’ll love the opportunity to converse with others who obviously have a similar interest with you as they are headed to the same destinations. You’ll be able to share stories, tips, ideas, and other fun information.

As you can see, there are a lot of great reasons to take a bus tour of Las Vegas or any other tour to see the world. Se all of the destinations and sights you’ve always wanted to see while someone else does the driving by hopping aboard a bus and taking a tour today!

Yellowstone National Park

Established on March 1, 1872 by President Ulysses S. Grant, Yellowstone National Park was the first national park established in the world. And throughout its glorious history, millions of visitors have taken to its many spectacular features including the waterfalls, geysers and rock formations that have made this natural wonder the highlight of many tourists’ trips. And because of these fantastic features, Yellowstone has long been one of the favorite places for people to visit when taking a vacation. And with that, here are some of the top places to make sure you visit when booking your tour of Yellowstone:

Old Faithful

For good reason, Old Faithful is the most popular place to visit when taking a trip to Yellowstone. Visitors to this world-famous geyser will witness its eruption and have an opportunity to walk around the Upper Geyser Basin to see some of the other geysers in the area as well as a walk around the boardwalks

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

While not as big as the one you would see when taking a Grand Canyon tour, Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon is breathtaking. The Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon is the most photographed feature of Yellowstone. At 308 feet high, this spectacular water fall is truly breathtaking. Make sure to take time to venture to both sides of the falls and take in all of the scenery that this attraction has to offer.

Mammoth Hot Springs

Featuring some of the oldest buildings in the Park, this site contains the Park’s headquarters and dates back to the days that the United States Army managed this historic national park. Allow yourself enough time to drop by the Visitor’s Center to watch a film, browse the Center’s history exhibit and more. And if you’re lucky, see if you can catch a glimpse of the elk that are often seen grazing on the lawns Mammoth Village.

Tower Fall

Other than the Lower Falls covered above, Tower Fall is the most popular waterfall in Yellowstone. Located behind the General Store, Tower Fall provides a tremendous view. However, the true beauty behind this location is when you hike down to the basin of the Fall. Take a hike down to the bottom and enjoy the grand experience that this destination can offer.

Yellowstone Lake

Huge bodies of water are always popular and Yellowstone Lake truly is one. This lake is the largest high-altitude lake in the lower 48 states and features a tremendous view of snow-capped mountains across the lake.

Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces

With white rocks layered and piled like tiers of a wedding cake surrounding shallow pools of hot springs, Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces is one of the top sights to take in when going on a Yellowstone trip. Enjoy the orange, blue, green, blue and yellow pools of hot spring water and take in the sulfur-scented floats and take in the warmth these provide to visitors on cooler days of the year.

Old Faithful Inn

One of Yellowstone sights, this Inn provides a fantastic view of Old Faithful’s eruptions from this Inn’s second-floor balcony and is one of the most charming places to visit when visiting Yellowstone.

A specialist cricket writer, but also a hugely talented multi-sport journalist, Lungani’s stand out year was marked by his excellent coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games for the Independent Media group’s national print titles and IOL Sport digital platforms.

“Though the writers get the accolades, we know that every single edition is a team effort. Our design and editing teams worked long hours, particularly during the Rio Olympics, and turned our stories into works of art for the public. These awards are as much a reflection of their dedication and passion as they are mine,” Zama said of his achievements.

“I’m also hugely indebted to a group of sports editors who continue to challenge us to do more, especially on overseas tours, which help to elevate the Independent Media stable above others in terms of unique coverage,” he added.

The head of Independent Media’s sports business unit, Jermaine Craig, hailed Zama’s achievements as worthy recognition of his efforts this year and a boost for the group.

“I would like to congratulate Lungani on his outstanding achievements, which are richly deserved. He is a classy, world-class writer who epitomises the quality and standard of sports writing Independent Media strives to provide its readers. We are extremely blessed to have a highly talented stable of sports writers across our group that for me are unmatched as a unit. Lungani’s achievements are due reward for his stellar efforts and a huge boost for our entire Independent and IOL Sport team,” said Craig.

EntrepreneurMonth: Zinhle Isima’s ticket to ride

“It’s always been a dream to make a positive impact on my community and country and through my work I am able to do so.” – Zinhle Isima, FlightSiteAgent
As a full-time working mom of four, Zinhle Isima (36) from Durban Central, has always had a keen interest in starting her own business. By combining her passion for travel and business she and husband Louis started their own company. Working as an independent travel agent through FlightSiteAgent − a registered online travel provider to agents and SMES − since June 2002, Isima has grown her business from a part-time start-up to a full-blown career. Here, she shares more on her travel business.

#EntrepreneurMonth: Zinhle Isima’s ticket to ride

How old e-ticketnet?

I’ve been in business for 14 years. Our travel agency launched in 2001 when my husband and I saw an opportunity to set up a travel and tours business that catered to a wide range of entertainment and travel consumers in the Durban Central area. From our small beginnings, e-ticketnet has grown to become a full travel and tours agency through strategic alliances with industry partners in entertainment, airlines and luxury coach bookings.

Have you always wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes, because it affords the opportunity to become financially independent, and have a positive impact on my community and country. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of creating a business venture, and taking the steps needed to achieve it.

What made you decide to take the leap and start your own travel business?

My interest for travel was cultivated during my high school years. I was fascinated with the job description in the travel and tourism space, and always wanted to work in the industry. I decided to set-up a travel and tours agency business when I discovered a vacuum for online travel and live event ticketing in The Durban Central area. After completing my studies, I spent the first two years working as a domestic luxury coaches booking agent. This was very helpful during the early stages of starting my business.

Is this your first entrepreneurial venture? If not, what was?

I consider e-ticketnet as my first entrepreneurial venture, but I have been involved in a number of smaller projects along the way. All of them enabled me to gain business experience today as well as helped to keep my business afloat.

In your opinion, what are some of the rewards and challenges of being your own boss?

Being your own boss to me is first on the list of rewards as it allows me to set my own hours, allocate a raise when the business has done well, take leave when necessary and all while you’re doing a job you love. Challenges are however inevitable in business, and more so for service business like a travel agent. Financial institutions and creditors expect you to prove that your business is sustainable before they can trust you or have confidence in your business to invest capital or support you. However with time, persistence and patience you can overcome these challenges.

How many staff do you employ?

We currently have three staff members, and are hopeful to increase the number in foreseeable future.

How long have you been using the FlightSiteAgent platform and what has the experience been like?

I started using the FlightsiteAgent platform over two years ago after I came across the website through a referral from a friend. It’s known to be one of the essential partners in the travel industry and I will recommend it to others because of the complete support it offers to its agents, which also includes educational workshops.

What advice do you have for those wanting to start their own business?

There is always a tomorrow, even if today is difficult. Don’t give up! The most important trait that will lead to success is persistence and endurance. Be flexible and adapt to the changing context without being thrown by it. Act quickly and decisively but don’t think that you know things best. Most importantly never give up. Starting a business is a long slog; if one is just looking for a quick buck then you probably will be disappointed. However, if you have a long breath and keep at it the rewards will come.

New cruises grow Nelson Mandela Bay tourism offering

Nelson Mandela Bay recently saw the launch of a new venture – supported by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality together with Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism – allowing locals and tourists to experience the city’s marine tourism offerings through unique excursions including waterfront cruises, island cruises and more, offered by Stampede Cruises and the Blue Pearl.

L-R: Executive Director of Economic Development Tourism and Agriculture, Anele Qaba; MMC of Economic Development Tourism and Agriculture, Cllr Andrew Whitfield; NMBT CEO, Mandlakazi Skefile, Owners of The Stampede and Lochhead and owner of The Blue Pearl, Maclean.

“We warmly welcome the addition of new products to the tourism offerings of the city. Through increased unique experiences in the destination the tourism sector can positively contribute to the economic, socio-cultural and environmental growth of our destination,” confirmed MMC of Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture, Councillor Andrew Whitfield.

Algoa Bay is an incredibly diverse bay with four estuaries which need protection, the largest coastal dune field in the Southern Hemisphere, many historical shipwrecks, beautiful and safe beaches, some of the most diverse and colourful coral a diver could find as well as a variety of marine mammals and birds. Nelson Mandela Bay has recently also laid claim as the Bottlenose Dolphin Capital of the World.

Executive director, Anele Qaba: “There is no doubt that tourism in NMB has suffered a great loss due to the closure of crucial tourism products such as the Oceanarium, Apple Express, Red Location and others. This necessitated the NMBM to take introspection in relation to its destination management approach and to put plans in place to develop the tourism industry and sustain the key growth sector for the city. Losing the Jester had a negative impact on NMB tourism as a coastal attraction and I am thrilled that today we are launching these two boats, though not on a bigger scale will close the gap left by the departure of the Jester. This product will go a long way in meeting the expectations of visitors and locals from a coastal city.”

Stampede Cruises

Rod Lochhead, director of Stampede Cruises, expressed excitement to share NMB’s unique natural heritage, “Stampede Cruises offers a unique boating experience combining a deep love of nature and conservation with a strong desire to share all that Algoa Bay has to offer with both local and international visitors alike. Our chartered tours around Algoa Bay are relaxed and fun with a touch of adventure, exploration and discovery. From the islands to the sea life, our bay has something for all.”

Stampede offers relaxed comfort on board a spacious catamaran, either seated on the sheltered bridge deck saloon or upfront on the trampoline. Tours will offer an adventurous day out with either a leisure style or responsible conservation style tour where you have the opportunity to visit St Croix, Jaheel, and Brenton Island, or further afield to the Bird Island Group.

Blue Pearl

The Blue Pearl offers adventure trips for up to eight passengers around Algoa Bay and this creates awareness for marine conservation while affording passengers the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful bay from a unique perspective. The cruise assists to cultivate public support for the Algoa Bay Hope Spot and to promote the ethics and principles thereof.

The Blue Pearl is an 8 meter RIB with 2 x 115 horsepower motors. Blue Pearl can easily reach cruising speeds of 25 to 30 knots. Blue Pearl follows the ethos of Take 3 For The Sea which promotes public participation in beach cleanliness and encourages conscious enjoyment by all ocean users.

Morven Maclean, director of the Blue Pearl advises, “An ideal cruise hugs the coast past Summerstrand to the Cape Recife lighthouse. The way back we pass the Bell Buoy for a quick dip in the sea for the adventurous souls on board, we then head towards Kings Beach in through the harbour, we can then drop you off on the jetty at Algoa Bay Yacht Club or Shisas’- the South African restaurant in the Harbour – where you can get an instant cold beverage and a snack.”

NMBT CEO, Mandlakazi Skefile, “We are excited to collaborate with both products in order to showcase the destinations unique experiences and natural heritage. The additional experience will attract new visitors and extend the stay and spend leading to greater spend and thriving industry.”
